What is a liminal space?

A liminal space is a transitional, empty yet familiar place that stirs an eerie mix of nostalgia and unease: a deserted corridor, a car park at night, a waiting room with no one in it. Liminal recreates these places in 3D so you can walk around inside them.

How do I explore the spaces?

Click to enter, then move with WASD or the arrow keys and look around with the mouse. On mobile, use the on-screen joystick and drag to turn the camera. Press Escape to release the mouse.

Are the spaces always the same?

Accepted Answer

No. Each space is generated from a seed: the same code always produces the same place, but a new roll creates a different layout, lighting and mood. You can share a seed so someone else visits the exact same space.

Do I need to install anything?

Accepted Answer

No. Liminal runs directly in the browser using WebGL, with no install and no sign-up. A headset is not required.
